Ask any bridal stylist which silhouette they'd recommend to a bride who has no idea what suits her, and the answer is almost always the same: A-line. Here's why it works — and how to find the right version for your body.
What Is an A-Line Wedding Dress?
An A-line dress is fitted through the bodice and flares gradually from the waist to the hem — creating the shape of the letter A. Unlike a ball gown, the skirt doesn't have layers of petticoat; unlike a mermaid, it doesn't hug the thighs. The skirt falls in a clean, continuous line from the waist downward.
The result is a silhouette that's both structured (through the bodice) and forgiving (through the skirt) — which is why it suits such a wide range of figures.
Who Does It Suit?
A-line silhouette complements almost every figure. It's also one of the most comfortable silhouettes to wear all day — there are no restrictions on stride, no fitted skirt to manage, no petticoat to arrange.
Our A-Line Gowns
The Acapella minimalist A-line is one of our most elegant interpretations — clean, romantic, and understated. The Note off-shoulder A-line adds the off-shoulder detail for a more fashion-forward version of the same silhouette.
The Symphony off-shoulder A-line uses a beaded corset bodice with a chiffon skirt — a softer, more romantic interpretation. The Forte bridal set takes the A-line in a more dramatic direction with beading and a mikado skirt.
